Winter Survival Camp
This camp is for the outdoor kid that is ready to learn skills needed to survive in the wilderness. The truth is that no one goes out intending to get hurt, or lost, and yet both happen. Throughout the week, we will address preparedness (which includes parents knowing where you are!), the mental toughness to remain calm, the rule of 3's and some important winter safety considerations. As we dive deeper, the children will be practicing fire lighting, building shelters and practicing signalling. Throughout the week they will either make or receive items that we recommend they have in their "survival kit" moving forward.
This camp is lead by Lead Mentor, Keely Hall. In addition to having a strong background in wilderness skills, Keely is a member of our local search and rescue team. This experience gives her further insights into Lost Person Behaviour and statistical data which has shaped the focuses of this camp.
